The Dequindre Cut

The Riverfront Canine Club is excited to walk in the winter! But the wind on the Riverwalk can be fierce, so we're walking the more sheltered Dequindre Cut.

The Dequindre Cut is an exciting new path created from the abandoned railway spur between Eastern Market & Rivard Plaza. Newly paved, cleaned up and landscaped, the one mile Cut greenway opened May 2009.

Park at the free lot. From the north: take I-75 south to I-375 south, exit Jefferson EAST (left turn) to Rivard St, turn right. (Rivard is the first street past the church on the right/river side). Turn left on Atwater to the parking lot
On the map, the Cut shows as the CP North America Rail Line.

We'll go north up the cut. There are no fountains on this walk, so we encourage you to bring water. We'll have water and bowls at the the halfway point of the walk. The Detroit Conservancy (bless them) has put a few signs up in the area with arrows to the Dequindre Cut.
